Asian Studies
On Tuesday a group of 3 Chinese teachers and 11 students from Huautai Experimental Middle School visited the Junior Primary School. This was the 4th visit by Chinese visitors to Port Lincoln over the past few years. Students at the PLJPS listened and shared a story and joined in on a number and colour game in English, Indonesian and Chinese. The visit enabled learning experiences to be relevant to class lessons.
NAIDOC Week
The importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages are the focus of national celebrations marking NAIDOC Week. The 2017 theme – Our Languages Matter – aims to emphasise and celebrate the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in cultural identity, linking people to their land and water and in the transmission of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, spirituality and rites, through story and song. Various NAIDOC Week activities are planned in Port Lincoln, including a cookout on Wednesday.
